Compugene Membership System

Preview Window

The PREVIEW window displays automatically if you have the Preview mode option set (Options |Operational| Preview mode) and a report has just been created. The report displays on your screen in the Preview window, with a look that matches what the report will look like if you decide to print it.

The menu options on the Preview window are:

Exit Preview: closes the Preview window for a single report, or ends display of the currently displayed report if one of a sequence and displays the next report in the sequence. To totally end display of a sequence of reports, use the Cancel menu option (see below)

Print:allows you to print the entire report, change the font, and set up the printer

Save:allows you to save the currently displayed report in one of three formats:
RTF: this will save the report in RTF (rich-text) format, a type that can be opened by most word processing programs, such as Microsoft Word.
Internal: this format will allow you to re-display and print the current report from within the Compugene Membership System by using the Reports|Preview re-do option from the Main or Financial windows. The report is saved to a file with a suffix of .prt.
External: this format will save the report as a CSV (comma-separated values) file, which can be processed by most Spreadsheet programs, such as Microsoft Excel.

Cancel:This option will allow you to terminate complete display of a series of reports, such as when you produce multiple statements. The Exit Preview button on a series of reports will just end display of the current report and bring up the display of the next report in sequence.

Copies:Opens a window that allows you to enter the number of copies. Should you subsequently decide to print the displayed report, the number of copies you specify will be printed.

First:Displays the first page of a multi-page report.

Last:Displays the last page of a multi-page report.

Next:Displays the next page of a multi-page report.

Prev:Displays the previous page of a multi-page report.

Print Page:Prints just the displayed page, as opposed to the Print option, which prints the entire report.

Copy:Takes the text of the entire report and places it in the Clipboard, from which you can later paste the text into another document. Note: you will lose column positioning information using Copy, since each individually placed item on a page will now be separated by just one blank character.

Find:Opens a window that lets you specify a string to find in the report and allows options to Find All and match case. For regular Find, when a string is found, the system will display the string in Red and position the display window to the found string. For Find All, the system will return the total number of occurrences of the string in the report.
